“Can I burn in the borough of Orwigsburg”

Read the Orwigsburg ordinance on burning in the borough below.

The basic premise of burning in the borough is that due to safety reasons you can not just burn anytime you want. You may use UL approved fire pits that are enclosed for food prep or other purposes. Safety is paramount so proximity to out buildings, homes, and brush and trees should be considered when adding outdoor related fire rated areas.

However, with in the borough ordinance it allows for special circumstances where you can burn with fire department approval depending on approval by the Fire Chief or ranking officer of the fire department. Contact the borough office at 570-366-3100 and leave a message. An officer from the fire department will get back to you.
