MVA - W/ FLIGHT - EAST BRUNSWICK TWP.

At 5:15 p.m. Rescue 56 and Co. 55 New Ringgold were sent to the intersection of Rt. 895 and Rt. 443 in McKeansburg to a vehicle accident with injuries.  A two vehicle accident had left the driver of one of the cars injured and still in the vehicle.  OFD firefighters assisted EMS with packaging and removing the victim from the car while New Ringgold Engine 5510 established a landing zone for a Medevac helicopter in a nearby field.  The victim was transported to a local Trauma Center. 




 
   
   
CRASH W/ ENTRAPMENT - WEST BRUNSWICK TWP.

 At 2:00 p.m. Rescue 56 was dispatched to W. Brunswick Township with Co. 42 Deer Lake to a report of a vehicle accident with entrapment on Rt. 895 near the intersection with Rt. 61.  A single vehicle had left the roadway and rolled down an embankment.  The vehicle had come to rest on it's roof with the driver trapped inside.  Rescue 56's crew stabilized the vehicle and removed both driver's side doors as well as the "B" post to free the victim.  The victim was flown to a Trauma Center by a Medevac Helicopter. 


 
WORKING RESIDENTIAL FIRE - S. MANHEIM TWP

At 2:30 a.m. Company 56 was dispatched with Co. 47 Landingville and a full first alarm assignment to a reported structure fire on Woodlands Drive in S. Manheim Twp.  Chief 47 Hoffman had the Command.  Arriving units from Co. 47 discovered a fire involving two rooms on the first floor with the remainder of the building heavily charged with smoke.  The fire was quickly controlled with handlines from Engine 4710.  Units remained on scene conducting salvage and overhaul operations until 4:40 a.m.

On Sunday, July 11th, the Orwigsburg 9 & 10 yr. old Little League All Star team captured the District 24 crown after beating Line Mountain in Orwigsburg.  The OFD provided some of the post game celebration as the team received a fire truck parade through the borough.  The OFD would like to wish this All Star team the best of luck as they continue with their play off run.  Nice work and a job well done.


 
RESCUE 56 GOES TO S. MANHEIM TWP

At 9:40 p.m. Rescue 56 was dispatched to Berne Drive to assist Co.'s 34 Summit Station and 39 Auburn with a vehicle accident with entrapment.  The single vehicle accident involved a sedan which had left the road, slid down an embankment and landed on it's driver's side, perched on a telephone pole guide wire.  Rescuer's from Summit Station had stabilized the vehicle and removed the roof.  The crew of Rescue 56 assisted Summit with freeing the victim and removing him from the wreckage.  Auburn firefighters provided fire protection throughout the operation. 




 
   
   
A NICE GIFT - FROM FAITH WORSHIP CENTER

On Saturday afternoon, the OFD received a "small act of kindness" from the Faith Worship Center of Orwigsburg.  The department received a very nice gift basket that contains a bunch of snacks and a full case of bottled water.  The case of water has been placed on the rescue and will certainly be refreshing during the summer months.  The members of the OFD would like to extend a thank you to the members of the Faith Worship Center for their generous gift.


 
ANOTHER ENTRAPMENT CALL - WEST BRUNSWICK TWP

At 4:00 p.m. OFD was again heading into W. Brunswick Township for another vehicle accident with reported entrapment.  Rescue 56 and Engine 5610 joined Co. 42 Deer Lake on Rt 61 near Pine Dale for a two vehicle accident involving a van and an automobile.  Three of the passengers in the van were injured and two were trapped in the wreckage.  After stabilizing the vehicle, the Rescue's crew removed both driver's side doors and the "B" post to free the victims.  Co. 39 Auburn had again set up a Landing Zone at Fessler USA and one victim was flown from the scene.  The other victims were transported by EMS to local hospitals.  OFD cleared the scene in about 45 minutes. 


 
   
   
"DOOR POP" - COAL MTN. RD

At 1:55 p.m. County Communications sent Rescue 56 into W. Brunswick Township for a vehicle accident with entrapment.  Rescue 56 joined Co. 42 Deer Lake on Coal Mountain Road for an accident involving a small sedan and a pickup truck.  The driver of the car was injured and confined in her vehicle.  OFD firefighters stabilized the vehicle and removed the driver's side door to free the victim.  The driver and a child, also injured, were transported by EMS to the Fessler USA parking lot off of Rt. 61 where Engine 5610 and Co. 39 Auburn had established a landing zone.  Two Penn Star helicopters flew the victims to an area Trauma Center. 


 
   
   
LITTLE HELPERS - WITH A BIG JOB

While working at the Station on Sunday afternoon getting the trucks ready for the Memorial Day Parade, OFD firefighters received a helping hand from some little helpers.  Helping to wash Rescue 56 are Julianna, Bodhi, Magdalene and Raiza.


 
MVA ON RT. 443 - START OF A BUSY SUNDAY

At 11:00 a.m. Company 56 was dispatched to a two car accident at the intersection of Rt. 443 and Rt. 61 in N. Manheim Township near Renninger's Market.  The crew of the Rescue assisted EMS with moving one injured passenger while Engine 5610 provided traffic control on the east side of the accident.  Fortunately, there were no other injuries.  OFD cleared the scene in about an hour.
